Painting a Pure Land
When we commissioned the painting of our happy bubbling water garden, our artist, Ibu Sri, knew
we would be floating our own bodhisattva logo on the giant lotus. She was excited to use her
creativity to paint a special, secret blessing just for us. The lotuses represent purity of thought,
speech, and action. The Balinese goddess raises her right hand in a mudra that indicates, “Fear
not the transition!” Her left hand gestures, “I will not transition without you!” Right!
To maintain a pure land we’ve all got to make the transition to a cleaner, greener lifestyle. Maggie’
